Play With Us–String workshop open to the community

This YouTube video features the Richmond (VA) Symphony's Come and Play program that was created eight years ago by Wintergreen Performing Arts Artistic Director Erin Freeman and the RSO's Education and Community Engagement team. It has proven highly popular, with more than 650 people participating in the community orchestra.

$10 to play, free to observe.

TO DO:

  • Register here for the event so we know how many chairs to bring, where to seat you, and what your name tag should say.
  • Bring a music stand, if you have one.
  • Select which part is good for you (basic or original). If you are somewhere in between, feel free to take the original and then leave some notes out.
  • Download and print out copies of your music from the links below. We will have a few extras, but it’s easiest if you bring your own.
  • Dress for July in the Rockfish Valley. The Rodes Farm Barn is not air-conditioned.
  • Bring a friend!

Note: Players should arrive by 9:30am

Dust off your violin, viola, cello, or bass and join the talented students of the Wintergreen Summer Music Academy for a morning of string orchestra repertoire. If you don’t play, come observe at no cost.

Conducted by Erin Freeman.

Advance registration is required for players. Please use the form below.
