Anna Bishop, violin

Anna Bishop is a native of Virginia Beach who currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. She has been a tenured member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra since 2018 and was previously a member of the Richmond Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She continues to perform with various groups in the area such as the Williamsburg Symphony, the Alexandria Symphony and Williamsburg Opera. Anna was an emerging artist at festivals such as the Garth Newel Music Institute, Brevard Music Center, Colorado Quartet Institute and the Nova Scotia International Young Artist Program. During her summer festival studies she was fortunate to study with concertmasters from the Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony and Baltimore Symphony. Mrs. Bishop holds a B.M. from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as attended the graduate program at Chicago College of Performing Arts on scholarship. Her principal teachers have been Susanna Klein and MingHuan Xu. Anna is also a studio musician and teacher. Her playing is featured on the podcast, S-Town, created by Serial and This American Life as well as albums from artists like Mandy Moore. She and her husband have a daughter and two retired greyhounds.
