Dee Moses is the Principal Double-bass of the Florida Orchestra. His career has encompassed symphony, opera, solo playing, chamber music, composition, and teaching. He presently serves as Instructor of Double-bass at the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa, maintains a large private studio, as well as presenting master-classes and recitals. Mr. Moses received his high school diploma from the N.C. School of the Arts. His Bachelor and Master degrees are from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Lawrence Angell. Summer affiliations have included the Musica Viva, Cooperstown, Scotia, Eastern, Bowdoin, and Taipei festivals. From the summer of 2005 Dee has performed as Principal Bass of the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival in the mountains of Virginia where he also performs chamber music and coaches Academy students. In 1996 Mr. Moses first performed chamber music with the esteemed musicians of La Musica International Chamber Music Festival, with whom he has subsequently collaborated frequently. Dee has performed as soloist with the Florida Orchestra in the Koussevitsky Concerto, the Paganini “Moses Fantasy” and the Florida premiere of the Harbison Concerto for Bass Viol (as a member of the InternationalSociety of Bassists consortium.) In 2009 he gave the world premiere of “Camouflage” by Daniel Adams with the McCormick Percussion Ensemble. This piece is now available on Ravello Records. Dee also collaborates as composer for choreographeer Elsa Valbuena and the group Gaudere Danza.
