Celebrated conductor and composer Julian Wachner guides our Wintergreen Festival Orchestra through the music of Bach and Handel plus a few surprises, including a work by Wachner himself. You’ll never guess what instrument is featured in his piece! (Hint: It’s officially a reed instrument, although it looks more like a miniature, portable, and squeezable version of a certain percussion instrument that is featured in Classics III.) You’ll hear the familiar in Purcell’s Rondeau and the unexpected in Biber’s baroque masterpiece decrying the follies of war.

With a full complement of professional musicians from around the country, the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra presents exciting concerts throughout the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival. These performances anchor each weekend's activities and feature an inspiring mix of standards and newly composed works. World renowned guest artists, conductors, and composers come to the mountain each year to perform with the stellar musicians of the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra.

Join us 45 minutes before each performance for a pre-concert discussion.
