Celebrate Your Creativity in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains
The Wintergreen Summer Music Academy (WSMA) is a four-week program that enables talented young instrumentalists and composers to spend time in the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and work with an extraordinary group of professional musicians. The program consists of private lessons, chamber music coachings, seminars and performance opportunities. In addition, the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival is filled with concerts, lectures, theatre performances, dance performances and other events that Academy students are able to attend.
The 2012 Academy will begin on Monday, July 9th, and end on Sunday, August 5th. Academy members will be expected to arrive in Wintergreen on Sunday, July 8th.
Wintergreen is a four-season resort, and housing for the Academy students is on the mountain in the recently constructed Blue Ridge Commons as well as in private homes.

Click here for information regarding transportation to the Wintergreen Resort – home of the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival and Academy. Students are permitted to have cars, and there is ample free parking at the Blue Ridge Commons. While desirable, it is not necessary to have a car during the course of the festival. Wintergreen Resort has complimentary shuttles from the Mountain Inn to the Wintergreen Spa and other Resort facilities.
Students without cars should make their travel arrangements in and out of Charlottesville, Virginia using the frequent and convenient air, rail or bus services that are available. Charlottesville is less than an hour from Wintergreen by car. Transportation between Charlottesville and Wintergreen will be available on the first and last days of the Academy. Further details will be provided upon acceptance into the program.
